Noom Bases its “Lakes” Mirrors on Aerial Views of Water

Ukranian brand Noom has enlisted the skills of French designers Maryna Dague and Nathan Baraness for a new collection of mirrors, which reflect the shapes of stretches of water when viewed from above.

Simply named "Lakes", the new collection encompasses five pieces – each featuring a uniquely curving profile, which the designers have taken from the shapes of different lakes. They also wanted to juxtapose the mirror's two parts and did so by using distinctly different shapes: one fluid and soft, and the other very straight and heavy-looking. As a result, the mirrored surface is then paired with thick slabs of different materials, including brass, copper, marble, wood, and onyx.

About the collection, the pair say:

"We are fascinated by the natural materials, such as wood, stones, and metals because of their amazing natural patterns and colors echoing with the reflections of mirrors' liquid forms.

As well these materials perfectly work together with the flowing lines of mirrors, creating one eye-catching structure."

The collection's understated style is typical of both Dague and Baraness' respective aesthetics. The pair work both independently and together on collections, often drawing on a shared love for travel and the natural world around them for inspiration.

The Lakes mirrors are available to purchase from Noom's website, with prices ranging from €550 (approximately $561 USD) for a small mirror with a wood veneer slab, to €5,760 ($5,882 USD) for a floor-standing mirror made with onyx.

In other design news, Luxury textile brand CC-Tapis has worked alongside Apartamento Studios, photographer David Luraschi, and screenwriter Efthimis Filippo to create a cinematic campaign for its latest collection.
