Alexander McQueen SS23’s Tailoring Oozes Night-Luxe Sophistication

Alexander McQueen is often the last word in sophistication, delivering contemporary tailoring that typically combines deconstructed and reconstructed approaches with threads of darkness. For Spring/Summer 2023, Creative Director Sarah Burton follows a familiar code, injecting the house's tailoring with inspirations drawn from the cosmos and night sky, serving a collection that sees its "muted colors reminiscent of the evening glow."

The SS23 collection dazzles both literally and metaphorically, as white double-breasted blazers appear adorned with silver sequin and crystal astral embroidery, brooches and embellishments. Yet, the first look -- a nipped, pinched-in at the waist blazer, complete with extended lapels that caress the neckline and bold shoulders -- is also dazzling in its own, subdued right.

Atmospheric design details continuously litter throughout the seasonal offering, with more embroidery decorating the black wool twill oversized tailored coat with cape sleeves, the oversized single-breasted suit jacket, and the double-breasted coat. However, things take a dark turn thanks to the cropped utility blouson in black light cotton canvas, the bomber jacket in black leather and wide-legged trousers also in black leather, and the house's latest array of bags.

Here, you'll find biker and rock cues infiltrating the Biker Bum gag, it complete in black leather with silver metal eyelets and a chunky silver bike link chain. McQueen's Square Bow bag in "Black," "Fuchsia" and "Dove Gray" leather, as well as padded leather with the explored McQueen seal logo, continue this theme if only a bit softer.

Trousers, particularly denim, are yanked high and pulled above the waist for an extreme finish; a style noticeable with the tucked-in denim shirt that's effectively cropped thanks to the high-rise of the pants and black leather belt cutting between the two.

Chelsea boots and Derbys come with commando soles and are finished in black or white leather, while another array of Chelseas with stacked soles and trompe l’oeil detailing in black leather round out Alexander McQueen SS23 and its moody yet ethereal motifs.

Elsewhere, Dior's getting botanical with its new "Jardin" capsule.
