The campaign will follow the newly-formed Task Force 141, with familiar characters including Price, Soap, Gaz and Ghost, as they face off against a massive global threat in a variety of missions. Gameplay will take place across the globe, though Task Force 141's primary goal is to neutralize a terrorist conspiracy and attack on the United States.
Meanwhile, a multiplayer mode will include both wide-scale maps for larger groups of players and smaller maps that are specifically designed for six vs. six matches. Additionally, the game will host "an evolved special ops game mode featuring tactical co-op gameplay," according to the developer.
The upcoming Call of Duty game will arrive as a sequel to 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which served as a reboot to the developer’s 2007 Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, the first-ever Modern Warfare title.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II will release on October 28 on PlayStation® 5, PlayStation® 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC Battle.net, and PC Steam. Preorders are now available at participating retailers and on Call of Duty's website.
