Sneaker collaborations and special projects nowadays can seemingly pull inspiration from anywhere, but one theme that finds itself landing on various sneakers is food. Brands like ASICS have been known to decorate its various silhouettes in delectable presentations such as the Concepts x ASICS GEL-LYTE III which nodded to Japanese Tuna and the Nice Kicks x ASICS GEL-LYTE III OG "Nice Cream" which portrayed the aesthetic Spumoni, and now it's slated to cook up another GEL-LYTE III makeup that's inspired by Japanese beef and meat lover Jimon Terakado.
From a bird's eye view, these kicks may look like dull and all-black, but up close you're able to view all of its striking details. Pony hair covers a majority of the upper as it texturizes the toe boxes, quarter panels and overlays adjacent to the collars. The heels list out a trio of types of Japanese beef including Kobe, Matsusaka and Omi, while the lateral heels spell out "Prime" in gold font to speak to its meat-y motif. Furthermore, the insoles have been printed with actual graphics of marbled beef.
Retailers like atmos Tokyo are raffling these off right now for ¥20,350 (approx. $147 USD).
