Aside from being a late '90s-early 2000s rap mainstay and a certified rap icon, Fat Joe is well known as a serious sneakerhead. Normally keeping a rather low profile in the world of footwear, with the occasional on-foot sneaker shot, the New York rapper recently showed off something very interesting in his collection.
Taking to Instagram, Fat Joe shared a video of a never-before-seen, 1/1, colette x Air Jordan 1 High sample. The shoe is believed to be an alternate design for the Friends & Family colette x Jordan 1 Retro High released back in 2018. Created to help mark the Parisian boutique's official closure in 2017, the highly limited and exclusive sneaker now fetches over $55,000 USD on the resale market.
In the video, Fat Joe reveals his knowledge of French and teases his extensive sneaker collection with a close-up look at the colette x Air Jordan 1 High sample. The shoe continues the "Sport Royal" colorway with a mainly tonal design with suede and leather uppers. Additional detailing comes in the form of matching nylon tongues and laces, white leather Swooshes, colette tongue tags, "Merci!" embroidered at the heels and the usual AJ1 branding elements. Elevating the shoe are white midsoles paired with contrasting blue rubber outsoles.
