Five years into their incredibly successful partnership, Converse and Tyler, The Creator have created a brand new silhouette: the Converse GLF 2.0. Over the course of the collaboration, Tyler has continually reinvented himself. But nostalgia is powerful and Tyler and Converse took inspiration from it to create the GLF 2.0 – reflecting everything they’ve accomplished while also signaling the future.
Tyler was inspired to create a lightweight shoe whose simple shape allows for a casual or preppy look. Evolving from the original all-suede GLF design, the silhouette blends an old-school, court aesthetic with contemporary construction. Scalloping and fluid lines, which have become a signature of Converse x GOLF le FLEUR* collaborations, are on display as a nod to the Gianno. A canvas construction with suede overlays and vivid outsole also calls back to unique elements from past Tyler, The Creator releases. Vintage references, including a remixed Converse logo license plate, lend a nostalgic touch.
The GLF 2.0 incorporates signature GOLF le FLEUR* hues but trades the flower motif found on the original design for bold color blocking –including Oil Green and Bison, as well as Curry and Copper Tan color ways. There’s also a nod to the skate style that has helped define much of this partnership’s past, borrowing shape from the Pro Leather. Finally, the GLF 2.0 features a lightweight CX liner and cup sole construction, delivering all-day comfort. The Tyler, The Creator x Converse GLF 2.0 will be available in a limited global release at Converse.com and GOLF le FLEUR* on June 9 for $110 each.
