The Seiko 5 Sports x Kosuke Kawamura SKX limited edition watches are based on “his graphic design and textural collage expertise.”
Kawamura has created a horological collage or mash-up, seeking to “combine key elements from 60s and 70s archive Seiko timepieces” while taking its silhouette from 1990s SKX models, which were more reliable updates on the 1960s originals.
Bold choices including checkerboard bezels and tinted transparent dials revealing the Japanese/English day wheel, make for an unmistakable take on the classic sports watch.
The SRPJ41K1 green and orange model is limited to 3,000 pieces, while the SRPJ43K1 green and grey model is limited to just 500 pieces. Both feature Kawamura's signature on the caseback and are supplied with a poster designed by Kawamura.
The watches drop in September via Seiko retailers, priced $440-$490 USD (or £380-420 GBP in the UK).
Elsewhere in watches, Skeleton Concept transforms a Rolex Daytona for French Montana.
