Production numbers of New Balance's sneaker offerings are expected to ramp up extensively this season, and one silhouette that will be part of this is the 2002R. While the silhouette is primarily known as a lifestyle-focused offering, the brand has elected to add protective elements to it that make it more appropriate for hiking trails.
Across the front of the kicks, the Boston entity has added Toe Protect overlays which provide wearers with more durability and shielding against rougher terrains. Other hiker-inspired elements include the metal eyelets that are tacked on near the ankles as well as the laces which has been modified to rope form. A signature trail palette is applied to this particular colorway as dusty hue lines the suede overlays while rosy pink hits drop off on the laces, collars and heel windows. Beige hues are injected into the lower heel paneling and a lilac tone tints the side's N logos.
