Oris’ latest limited edition diver is supporting a conservation project to restore one billion oysters to New York Harbor.
The new Oris Aquis New York Harbor Limited Edition will offer financial support to the Billion Oyster Project, which aims to restore one billion oysters to New York Harbor by 2035, to help develop new ecosystems in what was once considered one of the world’s most polluted waterways.
The watch takes its green mother-of-pearl dial from the distinctive color of the water in the harbor.
The project builds oyster-impregnated reef structures using 6,000lbs of oyster shells collected each week from 50 New York City restaurants.
The collaboration is the Swiss brand’s latest support for water-based conservation projects, which include water-monitoring on Lake Baikal, coral restoration programmes in Australia and Florida and initiatives to rid the oceans of plastic waste.
The new 2,000-piece Aquis New York Harbor Limited Edition is water resistant to 300m and is supplied with both a stainless steel bracelet and green rubber strap. The watch is available now via Oris, priced $2,700 USD.
Elsewhere in watches, FACETASM and G-SHOCK create interchangeable watch sets.
