Raf Simons has built a strong profile in the footwear industry, building on his work with adidas Originals with his own (RUNNER) line that has gone on to deliver some of the scene's most accessible yet avant-garde styles around. But, if pairs such as the Cycloid-4-2001 and Cylon-22 sneakers are too daring for you, then fear not, as Raf Simons has just dropped a duo of Astra slides for Spring/Summer 2022.
Appearing in "Black" and "Red" colorways, the Astra follows in the footsteps of plenty of other Raf Simons styles. For example, the 100% polyurethane upper strap incorporates a technical, multi-dimensional component taken from the designer's (RUNNER) division that connects the strap to the sole, with a section sticking up to act as the home for Raf Simons' signature block-caps branding.
Elsewhere, grooves decorate the entirety of the strap, while the new addition of the Raf Simons "R" emblem, hanging from a tonal D-ring, adds a touch of branded bling to the footwear staple. This is all more prominent in the "Red" colorway, which contrasts the Astra's black base.
Raf Simons' duo of Astra slides can be seen above and bought from Machine-A in-store and online now for $135 USD.
