Heads up, Stephen Curry and Curry Brand just brought back the Under Armour Curry 1 in the Black History Month colorway. The Under Armour Curry 1 Black History Month made its debut as a PE in 2015 and later as an Asia-exclusive release in 2021, this is the first time the colorway will make its global debut.
This special Black History Month iteration of the Curry 1 takes inspiration from the true story of Lewis Latimer—the Black inventor who improved Thomas Edison’s light bulb in 1881. The design honors Latimer and other Black trailblazers everywhere who have played an important role in shaping history. Stephen was originally drawn to Latimer because of his own interest in technology. After reading about Latimer, Stephen gave the Curry Brand design and innovation team the opportunity to take the concept and run with it. Details include subtle nods to Latimer’s work bringing light to all, including a light bulb on the tongue pull tab and reflective upper as well as a dotted design resembling circuit boards.
