Timex has become one of the most popular watch brands in the United States due to the brand’s continuous efforts to innovate. Their latest launch, the Waterbury Ocean Collection, is further proof that every one of the brand’s creations improves with time.
Along with durability and practicality, two tenets of the renowned brand, Timex recognizes that addressing sustainability is imperative as well. For a company that is constantly evolving, longevity an important factor, so moving into a space where products are created more efficiently and consciously is key.
The Waterbury Ocean Collection consists of timepieces crafted from upcycled ocean-bound plastic. Timex has partnered with #tide, an organization that works to combat the amount of plastic that makes its way into the ocean as a result of overconsumption of single-use plastics.
To formulate the bracelet, case, and dial of these eco-friendly watches, plastic is first collected from the ocean by fishermen. That runoff plastic is then sorted, cleaned, and re-purposed in a Swiss factory that utilizes carbon-neutral transportation methods and solar power. The end result is an ethically produced product that emphasizes the importance of keeping our oceans clean and clear, creates jobs for coastline fishermen, and advocates for the reduction of fossil-fuel usage.
The sustainable collection comes in five different colorways: gunmetal/gray, navy blue, gray/rose gold, blue, and pink. It's water-resistant up to 30m and comes in two different case sizes – 42mm and 37mm.
The Waterbury Ocean Collection is now available for $99 on timex.com and in select stores globally.
