Samsung Decides to Ditch Seamless Updates in Galaxy S23

Galaxy Unpacked 2023

It has only been a few days since the unveiling of the Galaxy S23 series, and we have some news for you that might not sit well with some people. It seems like Samsung has decided to ditch Android's Seamless Updates feature once again in the new phones. Although not surprising, many of us were hoping this feature would make its way to the new phones, but that does not seem to be the case.

Samsung is still concerned about storage space as it has decided not to introduce the Seamless Updates feature in the Galaxy S23 series

In case you are wondering what Seamless Updates mean, it is a simple feature that downloads and installs Android updates in the background and does not restart the phone until it is rebooted. It might sound unnecessary, but it adds another layer of safety since it allows you to revert to the original update in case things go sideways. Sadly, the Galaxy S23 does not have it, nor did its predecessor.

Folks over at 9to5Google used Treble Check and Inaware apps to figure this out, and their Galaxy S23 Ultra did not seem to have this feature. However, there is a possibility that Samsung might introduce this software feature in a later OS update, but for now, you will not be able to enjoy it.

Honestly, it might not be a big deal for many people. I have been using Samsung flagships for as long as I can remember and never really felt the need to have Seamless Updates on my phone. Sure, it makes it easier because it now introduces another layer of security, but aside from that, it does nothing else to improve the overall user experience.

Do you think having Seamless Updates on your Galaxy S23 is a feature you want or are you okay without it? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
