Street Fighter 6 New Developer Match Showcases Lily, E. Honda

Street Fighter 6

New Street Fighter 6 gameplay footage was shared online, providing a new look at two of the characters that will be available when the game launches on PC and consoles this coming June worldwide.

The new developer match, which can be watched below, showcases newcomer Lily, who was among the final characters of the launch roster to be revealed, and returning sumo wrestler E. Honda. While most fans may be more interested in seeing what Lily is capable of, the new match is a great showcase for the classic Street Fighter 2 character, as his relatively straightforward fighting style has been expanded in some interesting ways.

Expanding classic characters' movesets and fighting styles is one of the things that Street Fighter 6 will be doing best, as seen in previous developer matches and in the two rounds of closed beta tests run last year. During these rounds of testing, I couldn't help but notice how all the classic characters felt both familiar and new at the same time in a very natural way, making them incredibly fun to use. Once I got more familiar with the new universal mechanics powered by the Drive gauge, I went on to try some of the new characters, and I couldn't help but notice how I wanted to learn to play most of them, something I never exactly felt in Street Fighter V.

While online and offline multiplayer will be one of the pillars of the Street Fighter 6 experience, the next entry in the series will offer quite a bit to those who are not looking into competing or are just getting into the series, as World Tour mode not only will be a great learning tool but will also make fans fall in love with the series even more.

Street Fighter 6 launches worldwide on June 2nd on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
